Club League 2017

Attention: All Club Captains and League representatives                                                              

The League for 2017 will consist of 10 man teams. 8 Nett League players playing Better-Ball Match play and 2 Gross league players playing off 0 in single Match play. The league will consist of 18 teams and divided into 4 pools of 4 and 5 teams. Each Club will have a home game and an away game against the same opponents. In the semi-finals the team finishing first in Pool A will play against the team finishing first in Pool C and the team finishing first in Pool B will play against the team finishing first in Pool D on neutral venues.

 

Factors for consideration

 

  1. The entrance fee for the 2017 Club League is R500 per team. This amount must be paid by the club into the Limpopo Golf Union’s bank account before the commencement of the first round of matches. The account details are:

The Club Captains of the representing teams must please ensure that this action is taken correctly. Confirmation of the deposit slip must be e-mailed to admin@limpopogolfunion.co.za

  1. Only players with a maximum handicap of 18 can participate. There is no minimum handicap applicable
  2. NO GREEN FEES are to be charged for the league players. If any league players want to take part in the local club competition, the competition fees are payable by the player himself. At neutral venues the players must pay normal member green fees to contest the round.
  3. Clubs are encouraged to try and have a Better-Ball competition on the day of the league at your home club in order for the league players to take part in the club’s competition.

Format

  1. The competition is Better-Ball match play for the 8 Nett league players using handicaps (playing match-play using the nett score per hole to see who won the hole not stableford points) and single gross match play using no handicap for the 2 gross league players.
  2. With the Nett League the lowest handicap goes down to scratch and the other players adjust their handicap accordingly.
  3. During a match each better-ball pairing will score 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss, the singles matches will earn 1 point for a win, ½ point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. At the end of the game all the points recorded will count towards the total of the team for the day. This format will be repeated against each team played on the day and the accumulated score is the determining factor to see who finishes first and second. To determine the winners the count-out procedure will be as follows; first we will check the individual games count then we will check the individual games margins. So the team with the highest accumulated score at the end of the season wins the respected section of their league. Thus score sheets must be filled in correctly please.
  4. Teams will be awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. A Bonus point (1) will be awarded for an away win. Thus meaning that a traveling team winning will be awarded 3 point.

 

Semi-Final & Final

 

  1. The matches will be played in four-balls with the singles matches teeing of first followed by the Better Ball matches.

 

  1. There will be a toss for the tee and the winner may decide.

 

Procedure to decide the winner

 

  1. The team with the most games won for the day will be declared the winner (the same points format will apply as per the round robin matches).

 

  1. Should the 2 teams be tied on games points after all the matches have been concluded there will be a play-off.

 

 

Play-Off (in the event of a tie in the semi-finals and/or finals)

  1. The play-off will be played over holes no. 1, 2 and 3 and all the players will take part in the play-off against the same opponents they played during regular play. Matches in the play-off will be decided by margins of 2/1, 1 up or all square.
  1. Should the teams still be tied, the team with the highest holes count from the regulation round and the play-off will be declared the winner.

 

League Info

  1. The semi-finals will be played on a neutral venue decided by the LGU. The LGU representative will decide where the final will be played also.
  2. The captains of the teams must please submit the results to Jean Sadie admin@limpopogolfunion.co.za no later than the first Monday after games was played so that the logs can be updated ASAP. Please note when booking at Golf Clubs you have to book 5 four balls for league matches. The Log will be updated on the 1st of every month.
  3. Results of the logs will be sent to clubs to post on their notice boards and will also be posted on limpopogolfunion.co.za.
  4. IF ONE TEAM CANNOT PLAY THE FIXTURE ON THE STATED DATE AND THE TWO TEAMS COULD NOT FIND ANOTHER DATE TO PLAY, THAT TEAM FORFEITS THE POINTS FOR THAT GAME. NO EXCUSES!!!!
  5. The division of clubs in the two sections was done to minimize traveling costs.
