The South African Golf Development Board’s (SAGDB) Limpopo chapter was given the chance for eight of its elite squad golfers to receive coaching from a few of the professionals competing in this week’s Vodacom Origins of Golf at Euphoria Golf Estate.
The children – drawn from Polokwane, Phalaborwa and Mokopane – were each given hands-on coaching during a clinic on the driving range.
And the enjoyment they showed was exactly what SAGDB Manager Jean Sadie wanted to see.
“I always say that talent we can find, because there is a lot of talent out there. But a passion for the game is what we really want, and these kids have that,” he said.
Sunshine Tour professional Wallie Coetsee was just as delighted to share some of his knowledge with the young golfers.
“We always give back, because we need to. It’s what we’re about as professional golfers, especially when it comes to young children who are always so willing to listen and learn. It’s a great feeling to see that and be a part of it.”
