Wind speeds of up to 25km/h at Koro Creek Bushveld Golf Estate will keep any golfer busy. As the players came in after their final round the common words were “thank goodness that’s over”!
Richard Joubert made an early charge at the leaders with a 31 (-5) front nine but the wind got the better of him on the final nine holes. Clifford Thompson was left alone to chase down Oklahoma City University golfer David Meyers.
The wind was the winner again as David made 3 bogeys in a row down the stretch. Clifford Thompson was the player who got the better of the wind and in his own words “it was my putter that saved me today”.
Clifford shot 68 in winds that resembled coastal conditions at stages but he kept his composure and got the job done with a bogey free round.
